25 electric semi trucks introduced on new route in Texas

A new partnership is set to introduce 25 electric semi trucks on a dedicated route between Houston and Dallas. This initiative involves collaboration with Nevoya and the Center for Green Market Activation (GMA) to establish the trucks and necessary charging infrastructure. Google will gain environmental benefits through environmental attribute certificates (EACs), which are often purchased by companies to tackle emissions in their logistics supply chain.

This project is part of a broader deployment totalling 63 trucks, marking it as the largest known rollout of class 8 battery-operated, zero-emission trucks in Texas. These vehicles are projected to cover around 11 million miles each year. Over the duration of the contracts, the initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions by about 92,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) compared to using conventional diesel trucks.

By aggregating our EAC procurement with other companies, we are able to amplify demand for these certificates, which assists in expanding the market for new technologies such as zero-emissions freight transportation.
