GCPL marks Disability Day with digital film emphasising inclusion as organisational necessity
Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) has launched a new digital film ahead of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities that highlights the experiences and contributions of employees with disabilities across its operations. Shot within GCPL’s accessible factory in Tamil Nadu, the film reinforces the company’s view that inclusion is a fundamental way of working.
The film depicts shop floor activities, ISL communication, accessible workstations and collaborative mixed-ability teams, illustrating GCPL’s focus on equitable workplaces. CEO Sudhir Sitapati said GCPL has increased PwD employment and is now widening its external engagement, including consumer sensory panels involving PwD and partnerships with organisations working in disability inclusion. He noted that people with disabilities form a large consumer segment and product design must account for them.
Global Head – HR, Vaibhav Ram, said GCPL has approximately 1% PwD representation and is actively working to expand inclusion across functions and geographies. He reiterated that disability inclusion is not optional and pointed to the recently launched ‘Work That Includes’ Toolkit, developed with Atypical Advantage and Integrative Solutions, to help other companies strengthen their inclusion practices.
The company said the film reflects its broader diversity agenda, which includes women, LGBTQIA+ individuals and other underrepresented groups. Facilities such as Malanpur and Chengalpattu demonstrate accessible and high-performing environments supported by job mapping, training, and ISL resources. GCPL said inclusion remains an ongoing journey across hiring, design, skilling and product development.
