Spurious ‘JOY’ Cosmetic Products Seized in Delhi Following Court-Directed Raids
Acting on an ex-parte order passed by the Delhi High Court, court-appointed Local Commissioners conducted coordinated raids across key markets in Delhi, resulting in the seizure of allegedly counterfeit skin care products imitating the JOY brand.
The action followed a trademark and copyright infringement suit initiated by Joy Creators LLP. Raids were executed at three locations—two in Sadar Bazar and one in Dilshad Garden—where authorities recovered cosmetic products, packaging material, labels and promotional content bearing branding deceptively similar to JOY personal care products.
According to documentation prepared during the raids, the seized products closely resembled the trade dress and overall appearance of JOY products, a brand with a long-standing presence in the Indian personal care market. The Local Commissioners recorded the seizure through inventories and photographic evidence. The goods were seized and sealed despite resistance encountered at some locations.
The case is scheduled for further hearing before the Delhi High Court.
Reacting to the enforcement action, Sunil Agarwal, Co-founder & Chairman, Joy Personal Care (RSH Global), said,
“Counterfeit products violate intellectual property rights and pose serious risks to consumer safety and trust. At JOY, honesty, trust, and consumer well-being are non-negotiable, and we take the responsibility seriously that Indian households have placed in us over decades. Strict enforcement and timely legal action are essential to protect consumers and preserve brand integrity. We appreciate the decisive action taken pursuant to the Hon’ble Delhi High Court’s directions, and we will continue to support the authorities wherever required to prevent such incidents.
