Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passes away: Maharashtra, schools, colleges and offices to remain closed tomorrow
Veteran Singer, Lata Mangeshkar has died today at the age of 92. She been admitted to the ICU at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital because of a positive COVID diagnosis and pneumonia. The singer was admitted on January 8, 2022.
Following the announcement of a State Funeral, CM Uddha Thackeray has declared tomorrow, February 7, 2022, a public holiday in the State of Maharashtra to mourn the demise of the legendary singer. All schools, universities and offices are to stay closed.
The state government has declared a public holiday in the state on Monday, February 7, 2022, to mourn the demise of Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar.

A state funeral was announced for the singer and followed by the observance of a National Mourning for two days to honour her life. The National flag will fly at half-mast for two days.
Lata Mangeshkar, despite having mild symptoms, had been admitted to the ICU because of her age. She kept on showing improvement until Saturday when the hospital authorities needed to place her on a ventilator because of her deteriorating condition.
