AI Adoption to Create 1.3 Million New GCC Jobs in India by 2030: NLB Services

Rapid AI adoption will propel India’s Global Capability Center (GCC) workforce to 3.46 million by 2030, adding 1.3 million new jobs, according to NLB Services’ new report “Workforce 2.0 Reset – India’s GCCs Go AI-Native.”

With 58% of GCCs moving beyond AI pilots, the sector is set for an 11% job surge in 2026, taking total employment to 2.4 million. Nearly 70% of GCCs are already investing in Generative AI, while 60% plan to set up AI safety and governance teams by next year.

“As GCCs shift from exploration to deployment, India is moving from delivery centers to AI-driven enterprises,” said Sachin Alug, CEO, NLB Services, projecting a 30% workforce rise by 2030.

New AI-native roles are emerging, including AI governance architects, prompt engineers, GenAI product owners, and AI risk strategists, while legacy roles such as L1 IT support, manual QA, and on-prem infrastructure are being phased out.

The GCC landscape is also shifting geographically. By 2030, 39% of GCC talent will operate from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, creating 0.715 million jobs, driven by lower costs and rising STEM talent.

To manage the transition, 80% of GCCs are funding continuous learning, while many are building corporate academies or hiring external GenAI talent.

Leadership readiness is becoming a key differentiator. Hyderabad and Bengaluru lead in AI maturity, while sectors like Telecom, BFSI, Software, and Media show the strongest strategic and budget commitments to AI.

With AI governance accelerating and state policies supporting digital growth, India is positioned to become the global hub for AI engineering and governance in the next five years.
