Anees Bazmee on Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2: “I had to take a calculative risk, take from some old elements and introduce something new in this one”

Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa turned out to be quite a success back in 2007. As the makers take the franchise ahead, one can see the changes introduced in the film’s team. While the earlier one was helmed by Priyadarshan, the sequel is being directed by Anees Bazmee. Also, Kartik Aaryan has stepped in as the lead hero in the movie, which also features Kiara Advani.

As he takes the story of the successful horror comedy ahead, Bazmee admits of feeling the pressure. He shares, “Whenever I make a new film I feel the pressure anyway because people are expecting a lot from a director who has films like No Entry, Welcome and Singh Is Kinng to his credit. I am competing with myself.”

He further adds, “When I began my journey with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 I knew I was taking it ahead from a fantastic team that was associated with it. It was a cult film. People still remember the characters like Manjulika. I had to take a calculative risk, take from some old elements and introduce something new in this one. However, in the end comparisons toh honi hi hai. There is no escaping from that so let people compare.”
