Ashok Leyland opens electric vehicle-focused manufacturing plant in Uttar Pradesh

Ashok Leyland has inaugurated a new integrated commercial vehicle manufacturing plant in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, strengthening its focus on green mobility and electric vehicle production. The plant was inaugurated in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.

The ceremony was attended by senior ministers from the Uttar Pradesh government, foreign diplomats, industrial leaders, Ashok Leyland’s dealers and suppliers, and senior leadership from the Hinduja Group.

Spread across more than 70 acres at Sarojini Nagar Industrial Area near Lucknow Airport, the facility is designed as Ashok Leyland’s most sustainable plant worldwide. The unit is capable of producing up to 5,000 vehicles annually, with a primary focus on electric vehicles. The workforce is largely sourced from Uttar Pradesh, with significant participation from women employees.

The green facility integrates renewable energy, efficient water management, and zero-discharge processes.
