Checkout these Top 10 highly popular movies with demeaning plots

We all grew up watching these films and loved them to the core. These movies made our childhood ever more awesome but as we grow up, we do need to address and acknowledge the problem here. We all are acutely aware that we can’t stop liking these movies all of a sudden but why was it even made then, when it can’t be made now. Every piece of these movies had some racism in it. These movies that were once deemed appropriate are now harmful. We should probably just reconsider these movies in a new light.

1. The  Lord of The Rings trilogy

The movie is inspired by Tolkien’s books but remains racist to its root. The Easterlings’ faces are fully covered except for a pair of black eyes. Their costumes were like the twelfth-century Saracen warriors, who fought against Christian invaders during the Crusades.

2. The Narnia series

In this fantasy/adventure as per Prince Caspian, all the bad guys are brown immigrants and the natives of Narnia need their white kings and queens to return and save them from their cruel and oppressive reign. The immigrants are shown to have taken over the magical place and changed its culture and tradition, driving the natives back into the forests.

3. The Harry Potter Series

There have been rants about gender and trans people in JK Rowling’s masterpiece and the gaslighting and the cultural appropriation she shows from time to time. 5. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

The image of Indians being crazy people who eat monkey brains and commit human sacrifices is racist. Not to mention the white saviour complex, that Jones uses to rescue Indians from India. It somehow manages to show Indians as naïve but also manipulative, victims yet villains.

6. Ace Ventura: Pet Detective

Jim Carrey starrer,  has a plot twist in which Ventura learns a woman he kissed was actually once a man. His reaction to this scene is vigorously brushing his teeth, crying in the shower, plunging his face, burning his clothes and it’s all used for making the audience laugh. The problem is, all this is just completely transphobic.

7. Aladdin

The classic song of 1992 says “Where they cut off your ear / if they don’t like your face / It’s barbaric, but hey, it’s home.”

8. You Don’t Mess With The Zohan

Hans Zimmer makes you want to forget the film which supports the white saviour complex. The poster with Tom Cruise as a Samurai is not an easy image to forget. He helps the Samurai from being destroyed by the Japanese Army by teaching them how to win using their own ways.

10. The Wizard Of Oz

In one scene the Wizard is seen giving wrong advice to The Tinman, ” A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others, ” simply teaching kids that being popular is of uttermost importance than being a caring person.
