Google Wallet expands TSA PreCheck touchless ID availability for travelers
Google Wallet has become the first digital wallet to partner with TSA PreCheck Touchless ID, making it easier for eligible travelers to pass through security with any airline that supports TSA PreCheck.
With Google Wallet, you can now streamline your airport security experience using TSA PreCheck Touchless ID. By adding your passport to the wallet, checking in for your flight, and opting in via your boarding pass, you can enable facial verification at participating checkpoints. Your information stays encrypted and secure, and it is only shared with the TSA when you choose to do so.
Moving through airport security has just become much simpler. As the inaugural digital wallet partner for the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) PreCheck® Touchless ID program, Google Wallet allows you to use the TSA’s secure facial comparison technology at checkpoints. This eliminates the need to present a physical ID or boarding pass.
Currently, TSA PreCheck Touchless ID can be used at 65 airports across the country, although it is limited to travelers on a small number of airlines who need to manually upload their passport information for each one. With the upcoming Google Wallet integration, this process will be easier. Travelers who have TSA PreCheck and are flying with any of the 100 participating airlines can opt in once with Google Wallet, saving time and reducing hassle for every flight.
Google Wallet is committed to ensuring privacy while you travel. Your information is shared with the TSA only after you opt in and authenticate using a biometric, PIN, or pattern to unlock your device. Digital IDs stored in Google Wallet are encrypted and kept on your phone, giving you control over who can access the information in your digital ID.
From digital IDs to scan-to-add passes and more, Google Wallet is dedicated to making digital credentials easily accessible. This new collaboration with the TSA is another step towards simplifying and securing your digital life.
