IFFI pays tribute to Irrfan Khan, wife Sutapa Sikdar gives an emotional speech

The 51st International Film Festival of India (IFFI) paid a tribute to Irrfan Khan by screening his film Paan Singh Tomar on January 22, 2021. The film was around the life of an award-winning athlete who is forced to rebel against the system. Irrfan’s wife Sutapa Sikdar also attended the screening, along with their elder son Babil.
At the fest, Sutapa went down memory lane in her speech and remembered good times with the later actor. She said, “Irrfan’s finish line came too soon, but he played well. We’re proud of you, Irrfan.” She added, “It’s a special moment because it’s an honor and privilege to be given a tribute. I’m happy to be here, this is the first time I’ve come out of the home. But one needs closures to walk ahead, and IFFI is a closure. IFFI couldn’t have chosen a better film, because this film talks about a race”
