Mumtaz, a veteran actress, discusses her recent health scare: “My Iranian skin was causing me problems.”
Mumtaz, the veteran actress who was hospitalised to the Breach Candy Hospital a week ago after suffering from diarrhoea, has been released. Mumtaz disclosed that she has irritable bowel syndrome and Colitis in an interview with E-Times after her homecoming. She also developed diarrhoea despite using the best treatment. It took seven days for her to feel better. She also discussed the difficulties she had during her treatment, which included being on a drip for the entire week. The actress confessed that her sensitive skin caused her a lot of problems.
“I have irritable bowel syndrome as well as Colitis. It was an unexpected bout of diarrhoea that persisted despite the best efforts of treatment. As a result, hospitalisation was necessary. It took me seven days to go back to normal in the hospital as well “ETimes spoke with Mumtaz.
Mumtaz, when asked about her skin, remarked, “My skin was causing me a lot of discomfort. My skin is quite sensitive because I am Iranian. In the hospital, I was on a drip for a week. My right hand could only be used to inject the drip; my left hand couldn’t be utilised because my lymph nodes were removed 25 years ago when I was diagnosed with breast cancer.”
Mumtaz’s parents, Abdul Salim Askari and Shadi Habib Agha, were originally from Mashhad, Iran, before moving to Mumbai. After being diagnosed with breast cancer 25 years ago, the veteran actress allegedly underwent six chemotherapies and 35 rounds of radiation before being certified cancer-free. She has been an advocate for breast cancer survivors ever since. She also starred in the film 1 a Minute, which was based on her own life and the lives of other women.
