Rallis India Unveils Open Innovation Platform ‘Idea2Impact™’ for Sustainable Agriculture
Rallis India Limited, part of the Tata Group, has announced the launch of Idea2Impact™, an open innovation ecosystem aimed at accelerating farmer-centric and sustainable agricultural solutions through structured collaboration across the sector.
The platform seeks to integrate external innovation, scientific research, and on-ground agricultural insights. It allows farmers, startups, academic institutions, researchers, and small enterprises to collaborate with Rallis by leveraging its R&D infrastructure, scientific expertise, testing and validation capabilities, and nationwide market access.
According to the company, Indian agriculture is undergoing increasing pressure from climate change, sustainability demands, regulatory evolution, and shifting farmer expectations. Rallis noted that innovation to address these challenges must extend beyond internal development and be anchored in scientific rigor and field-level relevance.
Idea2Impact™ operates under a structured governance framework that defines milestones related to confidentiality, evaluation, development, and value-sharing. Submitted innovations may move through laboratory research, greenhouse trials, multi-location field trials, pilot projects, and potential commercialization, supported by clear intellectual property and royalty mechanisms.
Dr. Gyanendra Shukla, Managing Director & CEO, Rallis India Limited, said, “At Rallis, we believe that meaningful agricultural innovation emerges when strong science is combined with fresh ideas and real field experience. Idea2Impact™ is our way of opening up Rallis’ capabilities to the wider ecosystem, while maintaining the highest standards of governance, transparency, and scientific rigor. This platform will help us work more closely with innovators to develop solutions that deliver real value to farmers and contribute to the long-term sustainability of Indian agriculture.”
The platform will prioritise innovation in seeds and trait development, biological and sustainable inputs, crop protection, soil health, digital and precision agriculture, and climate and water resilience, in line with Rallis’ strategic growth roadmap.
