The band went on to win the awards for the favourite pop group (for the third time), for pop song (Butter), and coveted artist of the year for the first time. Earlier, there were various controversies when the band did not win Billboard awards or even MTV Awards. The fans are overwhelmed and have taken over Twitter with congratulatory messages.

For their performance, the band danced to their recent release, Butter. The song became sensational overnight and has been on the top of the charts for weeks. Along with this, they also performed “My Universe” which was in collaboration with the band, Coldplay. Watch their performance here:
