Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story

From taking the stock market to unmatched heights to his disastrous downfall, this show keeps you glued to your television screens.

Mumbai Diaries 26/11 

It has been inspired by the real events of 26/11 but the majority of the story is fictional. The series will keep you glued till the very end. This series explores the challenges faced by the staff of Bombay General Hospital and how a journalist tries to report all the incidents taking place on that fateful day.

Delhi Crime 

Based on Nirbhaya gang rape, Delhi Crime presents us its full complexity, pushing no disturbing questions that are under the carpet. As from the name itself the show takes a very objective stance from the very beginning. The show has atmospheric cinematography and a very dynamic arena of subplots.

Kaafir

The series depicts the journey of Shehnaz Parveen, a woman from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir who is imprisoned in India for eight long years after she is declared a militant. The show has amazing cinematography.

He talked about the response he is getting to the series with SPOTBOYE. Mohit shared, “It is really overwhelming. As an actor what you want at the end of the day, you want your work to be recognized. As an actor you are always greedy to experiment, you want to get in different shoes. All actors say we don’t really care about the outcome but in their hearts, they all want to know how the response is. So, my character in Mumbai Diaries had a lot of layers, it had a very thin line. It could have sounded very irritating, or he could have come across as egoistic, rude or shrewd but I think there was a thin line that we have been able to maintain now when I read the comments and response. So, it’s very satisfying and reassuring.”

On the challenges he faced for the role in the series he said, “It was very challenging to play such a role. Emotionally, it was very draining. Firstly, you have the emotional baggage of the character, then you have the baggage of the actor like I need to fake myself as a doctor, I have to feel like a doctor. Also, I have to remember all terminologies and pronunciations. So, initially, it was very challenging to pull off the character.”

When asked about his return to the telly world, the actor stated, “When there is something really interesting that comes up, which is a limited series, I will definitely do it (on television). See, I am not from Mumbai and I don’t come from the fraternity. My relationship from day one has with the length. It’s always about me and the length, I have never really thought about which medium it is. I have never looked into mediums.”

On talking with SPOTBOYE, the actress gave her fans an insight into the web series and the character that she is playing. When asked what intrigued her so much that she chose to play the character the Wake-Up Sid actress said, “I had not done a web series before. So I wanted to do some and I’ve been getting offers but I have not been really connected with the material. Also, I know Nikkhil Advani from before and wanted to work together with him. When he sent me the script I knew that I had faith in his sensibility and knew that he would do a good job of depicting this real event with ceratin respect and dignity that it deserves. When the script came it was such a fat script because you know it is 8 episodes which is three times a movie. I found it very easy to read it was kind of a page-turner.”

She further continued, “It was written almost like a thriller the events were unfolding in real-time. Here we have used 26/11 as the backdrop so it’s like fictionalize kind of a setup. The action is based inside of a hospital mainly and partly in the hotel. So you could really see a very different perspective of the medical community, of the frontline workers and how they’re dealing with all these events and folding what the challenges are. So you have the doctors, nurses, ward boys, the hospital administrators staff their own challenges, personal journeys, the challenges of working hospital, etc.  These kinds of things it was quite interesting and is one of the first medical drama so that’s why I was very happy to take up this project.”

She even cleared our doubts on how much of the show is fictionalised as the web series is based on true events. To this, she replied, “So I would say it is largely kind of sticking to real events that there have been some minor changes,  exact details Nikkhil would be a better position to answer. The terrorist had entered Cama Hospital I believe for half an hour or one hour or something like that, here also we have shown mid-season that they do enter the hospital.  We have shown it for three-four hours instead of just half-hour. So there have been some tweaks like that but largely it’s based on real events.”

The 41-year-old actress will be seen playing a character called Chitra Das who is a social service director in the government hospital.
