An amazing night for Spain and a disappointing one for Portugal ss they were rattled out of the league with this defeat. Spain handed over the defeat and elimination to Portugal after they beat them by 1-0.

Luis Enrique and company were so happy to see the team went to the finals of the UEFA Nations League even after being 2 points behind Portugal. This game was a decider as Portugal were on 10 points and Spain were on 8. A win in this game gave Spain three points which took above Portugal.

There was just a single goal scored in this game which also came in the closing minutes. Alvaro Morata had a beautiful tap-in to seal the victory for the Luis Enrique’s side in the 88th minute. Alvaro Morata was assisted by Nico Williams who had a wonderful touch with his head to make it so easy for the Juventus striker.

Spain are now one of the four teams to play in the finals of the UEFA Nations League 2022 season.

After Portugal beat Czech Republic by 4-0 to go to the top of the group 2, their group’s 2nd positioned team Spain got defeated by Switzerland on the same day. It was a disappointing result for the Luis Enrique’s men.

Luis Enrique wouldn’t have expected this defeat as their team was better in the game but still had to lose three important points which put them behind Portugal in group 2 of the UEFA Nations League. Manchester City’s central-defender Manuel Akanji scored the opening goal of the game and gave lead to Switzerland in the 21st minute.

However, Spain football team did equalise the scoreline in the second half when Barcelona’s left-back Jordi Alba scored in the 55th minute. Three minutes later that goal, Euro 2020 star player Breel Embolo scored the second goal for Switzerland in the second half which helped the visitors lead Spain by 2-1.

This was the final score despite Spain created some wonderful chances to equalise or go ahead of this game. An unexpected loss for Spain makes them stay in second position with 8 points, behind Portugal who have 10 points in 5 games they played so far.
