Tenneco employees collect over 290 kg waste in Chakan plogging drive
Tenneco Clean Air India Limited conducted a plogging drive near Mahadev Temple in Nighoje, Chakan, reinforcing its focus on environmental responsibility and community cleanliness.
The clean-up was carried out at a busy public location that regularly experiences dry waste accumulation due to heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The activity focused on improving cleanliness while spreading awareness on responsible waste disposal.
Nearly 95 employees from the company’s Chakan plant took part in the initiative. Participants were briefed on safety protocols, waste segregation and plastic reduction practices, and were encouraged to carry reusable water bottles. Volunteer kits comprising waste collection bags and brooms were distributed before the activity.
Mr. Arvind Chandra, whole-time Director and CEO, Tenneco India, said:
“In a rapidly growing industrial region like Chakan, open dumping and unmanaged waste have real impacts on roads, local health, and the daily life of residents and workers. Through this plogging drive, Tenneco Clean Air India is turning awareness into action by encouraging responsible waste disposal and recycling, while actively involving our employees in building cleaner, greener communities. This reflects how we approach sustainability, not just in our operations, but in the communities, we are part of.”
The volunteers collected 43 bags of waste weighing a total of 290.2 kg, which included 41 bags weighing 280.7 kg and an additional 2 bags weighing 9.5 kg generated during the drive. The segregated paper and plastic waste was handed over to the municipal garbage collection van for appropriate disposal and recycling.
