India fails to create history at World Table Tennis Championship as Batra, Sathiyan, Archana crash out in quarterfinal round

India’s star Manika Batra’s search for a medal continues as she crashes empty-handed out of yet another competition. Ever since her loss at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, she has not managed to win any significant competition, and the story continues in the World Table Tennis Championship, Houston, USA.

Manika, participating in two different tournament events alongside G Sathiyan and Archana Kamath, was en route to making history but fell short of it. Playing in the quarterfinal stage of mixed doubles, Batra and Sathiyan faced Japan’s Tomakazu Harimoto and Hina Hayata, who emerged victorious by the margin of 1-3 (5-11, 2-11, 11-7, 9-11).

Manika Batra had another opportunity to become a part of history in the women’s double event. But yet again, she couldn’t capitalize on it, as she, along with Archana, was thrashed out of the tournament after facing a defeat against the Luxembourger duo of Sarah De Nutte and Ni Xia Lian by the margin of 0-3 (1-11, 6-11, 8-11). It was a landslide victory for the Luxembourg side, as Batra and Archana failed to pose any threat to the formidable duo.
