New feature allows publishers to enhance their presence on Search

Search profiles are being introduced as a tool for publishers and creators to craft their presence on Search, making it easier for audiences to track their content across the internet.

These profiles provide a novel method for publishers and creators to shape how they appear on Search. They act as a dedicated, shareable space where content can be highlighted across different platforms, ensuring that audiences can find accurate and current information about these sources on Search.

With Search profiles, publishers and creators have a centralized location to display their most recent articles, videos, and social media posts. Audiences can follow these sources directly from their profiles, increasing the likelihood of encountering this content on Discover, which is available on the home screen of the Google app. Profiles can be accessed via mobile through a creator or publisher’s knowledge panel, by selecting the name on Discover, or through a direct URL.

Initially, publishers and creators who have a significant following on at least one major social or video platform can claim their Search profile. They can personalize it with an avatar, biography, website, and links to social media and video platforms, along with other crucial content. Claiming a profile might also lead to the creation of a knowledge panel for those eligible. For those who already have a knowledge panel, it will be upgraded with the new avatar, the latest content, and a direct link to their profile.

Search profiles will first be available in the United States. Looking ahead, there are plans to expand this feature to more publishers and creators globally and to include additional functionalities to make the profiles more beneficial. We anticipate that these new profiles will assist publishers and creators in enhancing their presence and showcasing their work on Search.
