Peddi Takes the Box Office by Storm, Leaving Dhurandhar and Pathaan in the Dust on Day 1
Director Buchi Babu Sana’s electrifying sports drama thriller Peddi has burst onto the scene, sending waves through theaters with its exhilarating debut on June 5. Starring the charismatic Ram Charan, this film has quickly captivated audiences, matching the high anticipation surrounding its release. Despite garnering a mix of reviews, Peddi has struck a resounding note with fans, opening as one of the most colossal hits of 2026 by raking in over ₹100 crore worldwide on its very first day. This achievement only further solidifies Ram Charan’s shining status in the cinematic universe.
As reported by Sacnilk, Peddi has amassed a remarkable ₹51.00 crore across 12,412 shows. Within India, its total collections have soared to ₹82.49 crore, with net collections standing at ₹69.50 crore, including ₹18.50 crore from paid previews. On the international stage, the film grossed ₹30.00 crore, bringing its global collection to a dazzling ₹112.49 crore.
Although Ram Charan’s latest venture didn’t quite eclipse the worldwide opening day triumph of Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar The Revenge, which boasted a staggering ₹238.60 crore, it did triumph over other popular releases like Dhurandhar (₹43 crore), Pathaan (₹104.19 crore), and Prabhas’ The Raja Saab. While The Raja Saab floundered at the box office, Dhurandhar and Pathaan emerged as hits. Peddi also outshone Ram’s prior release, Game Changer, which had collected ₹80.9 crore globally on its opening day.
This riveting sports action drama, helmed by the talented Buchi Babu Sana, unravels the tale of a skilled cricketer from a forgotten village in Vizianagaram. For Peddi, cricket is not just a sport but a beacon of hope to uplift his village’s standing and reputation. Ram Charan leads a stellar cast that includes Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, and Boman Irani, each delivering compelling performances.
In a heartwarming scene that echoed the film’s triumphant spirit, Ram Charan’s wife and entrepreneur, Upasana Konidela, was spotted immersing herself in the excitement of the film’s premiere alongside thrilled fans. Upasana, caught up in the jubilant atmosphere, added her own flair to the festivities by tossing paper fragments into the air, creating a confetti whirlwind that mirrored the electrifying energy inside the auditorium.
