Shaheer Sheikh: “If my father taught me anything, it is how to live your life”

The last six months have been a roller-coaster ride for TV actor Shaheer Sheik. He was excited when he became a father in October last year however in four months, he lost his dad.

Speaking about his father for the first time, Sheikh shares, “If my father taught me anything, it is how to live your life. No one can fill the space he left behind in my life. But he lived his life the way he wanted to. He loved gardening and enjoyed travel. In fact, before the pandemic, he had been around the world. Now I see a lot more of him in me. I don’t know how to express it but I would want to carry on the legacy, keep doing stuff he used to like and used to do.”

The actor is glad that his got some time to spend with his grandchild. “My daughter was able to see her grandfather,” he says, adding, “It is an amazing feeling to be with your child. I forget everything when I am with my daughter. Her smile makes me happy. Earlier, I was happy to go to work and now I want to spend more time at home. It is one of the most beautiful experiences when you become a father, especially when you see yourself in your child. In fact, I thought the joy and love I felt for my niece was everything but the emotion one feels when you are a parent is completely different. I have never felt anything like that before. I see my jhalak in my daughter (smiles).”
