Mumbai Indians appoint Mark Boucher as new head coach
Indian Premier League champion side Mumbai Indians has appointed a new head coach ahead of the 2023 season. Former South African wicket-keeper Mark Boucher has been named as the full-time head coach of Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians decided long back to change their coach and there was rumour spreading around about Mark Boucher to become their new head coach.
Mumbai Indians has had great seasons of IPL since they won in IPL 2020. After that, the team couldn’t make it to the playoffs and were very poor in the last two seasons. In the last IPL (IPL 2022), Mumbai Indians was at the last position in the points table after two new teams being added in the league namely Gujarat Titans (winner of IPL 2022) and Lucknow Super Giants.
Earlier former Sri Lankan batter Mahela Jayawardene was the head coach of the team (Mumbai Indians). Mahela hasn’t left the team, he is now the global head of performance of the team. Jayawardene has been given promotion and it was likely that Boucher will succeed him (Mahela Jayawardene).
Mark Boucher will took over the charge from IPL 2023 which is scheduled to be played next year.
