India’s leaking runs at the death continues
India lost to Australia in the first T20I and their poor bowling performance in the death overs continues. Indian bowlers are not very impressive in the death overs in these recent series India played. Indian bowlers were same in the Asia Cup 2022. Leaking runs in the end could also be the reason India didn’t win the Asia Cup and not even went into the finals.
Indian team wanted Harshal Patel to be back from injury along with experienced Jasprit Bumrah, but taking them into the team isn’t making any difference. India is still giving away lot of runs at the death. Bhuvneshwar Kumar wasn’t impressive in the first T20I against Australia especially in the death overs. Indian pacers’ recent stats (T20Is) in the last five overs is really concerning for the team management.
Indian pacers conceding 40+ runs in most T20Is of an year:
5 times – Harshal Patel (2022)
4 times – Avesh Khan (2022)
4 times – Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2022).
Bowlers in this list conceded most runs in the same year only. India will play the second T20I against Australia on 23rd September. Skipper Rohit Sharma will have to make sure that the mistakes are not repeated again.
