Rudiger’s last minute goal helps Real Madrid qualify for the next round of Champions League

The defending champions of the UEFA Champions League (Real Madrid) were up against FC Shakhtar for the second time in this season’s tournament. This time the game was played in Polish Army Stadium which is a home ground of Shakhtar Dontesk. It was a disappointing game for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid started off well in the game but they were unable to find the net after creating some good chances. The first half went goalless but Shakhtar Donetsk didn’t let that happen in the second half and they scored in the very first minute. It was Zubkov who gave an important lead against the defending champions (Real Madrid).

Madrid was trying hard to find the equalising goal but couldn’t do it. Madrid has 17 shots as compared to Shakhtar’s 11. Still the host were leading the game. Real Madrid did find the equaliser in the very last minute, thanks to newly signed central-defender Antonio Rudiger who’s made it 1-1. Rudiger also had a head injury after clashing with Shakhtar’s goalkeeper and one defender in the build-up for this goal.

Despite Real Madrid couldn’t get the victory in this game, but they qualified for the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League (2022/23).
