Gautam Gambhir receives death threat from terrorist group; police inquiry underway

Former Indian Cricketer turned politician, Gautam Gambhir has received death threats through email. PTI has reported that Gambhir received the email on Tuesday. Following which a complaint was filed on the following day in the local police station. According to the complaint filed by Gambhir to the local police claims that the threat has been issued by the terror group ISIS Kashmir.

The complaint letter by Gaurav Arora, Gambhir’s personal secretary, to DCP read, “We have received an email from ISIS Kashmir on the official email ID of Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday evening. The email states a death threat to MP and his family. I, therefore, request you to look into the matter and make adequate security arrangements.”

In return, the DCP central Shweta Chauhan has put out a stamen claiming that the police are now investigating the matter. Also, the security outside Gautam Gambhir’s house in Rajendra Nagar, Delhi is also increased. The police have not registered an FIR as for now, they are awaiting the results of their preliminary inquiries. In the meantime, NDTV has reported that a simultaneous inquiry is being carried out by the Special Cell of the Cyber Security Cell.
