Farhaan Behardien hopes for India’s tour of South Africa to go ahead as planned

The Indian Cricket team is all set to take on the South African challenge this Christmas. After conquering Australia and leading in a suspended series in England, India would have been looking to leave a mark in the part of the African Continent where they have struggled of late. But things don’t look to be in favor of cricket at all.

Recently, there have been some COVID scares in that part of the world. A rise in a new variation of the COVID Virus might jeopardize the series, and many fans and pundits worldwide want the series to happen. South African batter Farhan Behardien is one of those.

Due to the recent developments, BCCI has announced that they will decide to go to South Africa on stall, waiting for direction from the South African Government. After which, Behardien, in a social media post, wrote, “I hope the biggest cricket nation in the world tours our county next month!! The future generation of South African players need it more than ever.”

Currently, the cases are on the rise in the country, especially in the northern part of the country, where Johannesburg and Pretoria are located. As a result, the test matches in these cities could be affected. Also, if scientists are to be believed, the new variation could mutate with time and become resistant to the vaccine’s effect.

India’s tour of South Africa is all asset to begin from December 17. The two teams will play 3 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 4 T20I’s across four venues – Johannesburg, Centurion, Paarl, and Cape Town.
