India faces Pakistan in the opening encounter of ICC Women’s World Cup next year
The cricketing rivalry between India and Pakistan is all set to witness another chapter as the two teams face each other in the opening encounter of ICC Women’s World Cup 2022.

The event will get underway on March 4, 2022. New Zealand takes on West Indies in the inaugural encounter. England will take on Australia on the second day of the tournament, while the prized match between India and Pakistan will be played on the 6th of March, in Tauranga.
A total of 31 matches are to be staged in the tournament across 31 days of action that will see eight teams clashing against one another in a league format. Out of which only four teams will qualify for the semi-finals to claim the title of world champions.
According to ICC, countries like South Africa, England and India qualified for the tournament on the basis of their position in the ICC Women’s Championship 2017-20. Simultaneously New Zealand qualified for the tournament automatically as they were the hosts.
The final of the tournament will be played on April 3. Both the semis will have reserve day as well.
