Antoine Griezmann helps Atleti edge past Athletic club

Atletico Madrid were up against Athletic Club on Saturday night, 15th October in the La Liga 2022/23 season. There was only a single goal scored in this game though it was enough for Atletico Madrid who won the game by a goal to nil. The Athletic Club were poor despite being the home side in this fixture.
Atletico Madrid were dominating since the start of the game. The in-form striker Alvaro Morata scored in the 6th minute of the game from a beautiful long ball from Molina. The goal was however then ruled out by VAR as Morata clipped the heel of the Athletic Club’s central defender.
The first half went goalless but the scenario changed in the second half. Antoine Griezmann who has permanently signed for the club from FC Barcelona was starting this game and scored in the 47th minute. This was the first and the last goal of the game which was enough for the visitors to beat host and take three points. Diego Simeone’s side is now at third place in the league, having 19 points and just three behind the league leaders FC Barcelona who will be playing against Real Madrid on Sunday.
