Aubameyang dropped from Arsenal squad for the game against Southampton after “disciplinary breach”

Arsenal captain and striker Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang was excluded from the squad for the clash against Southampton after a “disciplinary breach.” He was not even among the substitutes present on the bench, while French Striker Alexander Lacazette was named the captain for the match.

According to a report by AFP, Aubameyang was punished after failing to report for a training session on Friday. Even in the pre-match interview on Twitter, when asked about Aubameyang, their manager said, “Unfortunately due to a disciplinary breach. We’ve been very consistent, no negotiables, and he’s not involved today.”

Arteta further said that the punishment can also get extended. It’s not like Arsenal is going to miss his services. Although a good player, Aubameyang has not been on the best form in recent times.

He has failed to score a goal in the past six games and has scored only seven goals in all competition this season. Because of his bad run of form, the player has failed to become a regular part of the first team.

Even in Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat against Everton on Monday, Aubameyang came off the bench. His last start came in the 3-2 defeat against Manchester United earlier this month.

Aubameyang has had some disciplinary issues in the past as well. He was reported to have arrived late for the pre-match training against Tottenham in March. Following this, he was reprimanded.

Arteta revealed that the original plan was to play Aubameyang in the match, but the disciplinary breach has forced them to draw the line. However, the Arsenal management has decided to move on from the incident and focus on the match at hand.
