BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal denies reports of board dictating player’s diet plan
The BCCI Treasury on Tuesday evening had to put up an official statement to end the sparkling debate that has taken social media by storm earlier on the very same day. According to the rumors flowing around, it was allegedly reported that BCCI has banned all kinds of beef and pork and would only allow players to consume meant in the “halal” form.
Later that evening BCCI Treasurer Arun Dhumal confirmed that the reports were all fake and that the board has never tried to dictate the diet plan of its players and does not plan on doing it anytime in the future either.
IANS has reported Dhumal saying, “BCCI has not given any direction to any player or team staff on what to eat and what not to eat. All these rumors are baseless. The diet plan has never been discussed and will not be enforced. The board doesn’t advise anyone on what to eat and what not to eat. They are free to choose their own food.”
The rumored decision by BCCI had split the netizens into two halves. While half of them supported the decision, the other half criticized it, as a result “#BCCI_Promotes_Halal,” was seen trending throughout the day. The matter had been turned sacrilegious while Hindu and Sikh communities abstained from Halal meat, the Islamic community supported it. Although that debate has to be put to bed after the treasury’s words.
India recently clean-swept New Zealand in a 3-match T20I series and will be hoping to replicate the results in the 2-match Test Series which is played as a part of the World Test Championship and starts from the 25th of November.
