Edits Film Festival Launches to Highlight India’s New Creative Talent

The Edits Film Festival is making its debut, inviting creators from across India to showcase their talents through Reels made on the Edits app. This festival aims to highlight the new features of Edits introduced this year and encourage creators to transform everyday footage into short, cinematic Reels.

This initiative is unique, offering a challenge to creators to take ordinary clips—be they accidental, discarded, or overlooked—and turn them into extraordinary visual stories. Participants have 45 days to submit Reels made entirely using the Edits app, with a panel of prominent creators, actors, and experts assessing the entries.

Ankit Rihal, Head of Global Partnerships at Meta, India, stated, “India’s creator community is redefining storytelling every day, and the Edits Film Festival is our way of celebrating that spirit. We want to empower creators to see the cinematic potential in their everyday moments and use Edits as their creative studio to bring those stories to life. This festival is a stage for fresh voices and bold ideas — all made on Edits.”

Nikhil Taneja, founder of youth media company Yuvaa and a jury member, added, “There’s always something new trending on Instagram, and more often than not, it’s a Gen Z creator or editor behind it. We’re constantly inspired by their creativity and honest storytelling, so I’m glad to be a juror for the Edits Film Festival and help more of this talent get discovered.”

Submission Guidelines

  • Create and publish a Reel using Edits, turning ordinary videos into visually striking content with the app’s filters, effects, fonts, audio effects, overlays, and music.
  • Content must be original and created within the 45-day submission window, which runs until October 8th.
  • Posts must be tagged and captioned appropriately, including the hashtag #EditsFilmFestival, and tag @metaindia and @weareyuvaa.

Selection and Screening

The top 10 to 20 cinematic Reels created on Edits will be showcased at an exclusive Edits Film Festival event. Some of these creators will receive recognition from an esteemed jury and have their work featured on @metaindia’s social media platforms. Additionally, they will gain exclusive access to some of the upcoming features on the Edits app.

The Jury

A panel of talented and experienced individuals will choose the Reels featured in the Edits Film Festival:

  • Ahsaas Channa – an acclaimed actor known for her roles in various web series and films.
  • Dolly Singh – a beloved Indian content creator and the only India-based creator to win the Instagram Rings Award in 2025.
  • Nikhil Taneja – a multi-award-winning writer, producer, podcaster, and advocate for mental health and gender equality, co-founder of Yuvaa.
  • Rajeev Masand – COO of Dharma Cornerstone Agency, a prominent film critic and media personality in India.

The jury will evaluate entries based on the uniqueness of the story, the transformation of ordinary footage into something extraordinary, and the creative use of Edits features.

The Edits Film Festival eagerly anticipates the display of creativity and editing prowess from participants, ready to celebrate their achievements.
