Jude Bellingham fined 40,000 euros by DFB for his extreme comment

The German Football Association has fined Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham 40,000 Euros for his post-match comment on the referee. The event took place on Saturday evening when Dortmund was defeated 3-2 by their arch-rivals Bayern Munich.

Following which Bellingham was heard saying, “You can look at a lot of decisions in the game. you give a referee, that has match-fixed before, the biggest game in Germany. What do you expect?” reports Reuters.

The DFB then launched an investigation on the case, and on Tuesday, they announced their verdict that Bellingham doubted and denied the referee’s impartiality. Both the players and his club has accepted the verdict announced by the German Association.

The referee Zwayer, involved in the derby, was suspended for six months when found guilty in a scandal that dates back to 2005. According to reports, in that scandal, a fellow referee of Zwayer was found guilty of accepting a bribe from the Croatian mafia to affect the result of a low division game.

The outrage on Saturday was caused by two on-field decisions of Zwayer that did not go in Dortmund’s favor. Firstly, he denied an appeal of penalty by the Dortmund players and later awarded one to Bayern, which Lewandowski converted to win the game for his side.
