Lucknow IPL franchise appoints Gambhir as team mentor

Another big announcement is coming from IPL, as the newly acquainted Lucknow franchise has announced the appointment of Gautam Gambhir as their mentor. This news was followed by the appointment of Andy Flower as their coach earlier this week.

The Lucknow franchise has decided to build a strong backroom staff lineup before getting at the table for players ahead of the mega auction. Talking about the appointment of Gambhir, a source of TOI, they stated, “Gambhir brings with him a proven track record in the IPL as captain for KKR. He also has a penchant for grooming young talent, which Lucknow feels will suit them well ahead of what is expected to be a tough initiation into an increasingly competitive IPL scenario,” reported TOI.

Thanking the team’s owner, Dr Goenka, Gambhir said, “Thanks a lot for presenting me with this wonderful opportunity. The fire to win a contest still burns bright inside me. The desire to leave a winners’ legacy still kicks me 24X7.”

With their first target in the form of KL Rahul in sight, the RPSG led Lucknow team will be hoping to have a great time at the auction table, which shall improve their chances at their debut tournament.
