According to a report by The Guardian, Rangnick has agreed to move to Manchester and take up the interim job on the condition that once his contract as coach expires, he will be retained as a consultant till 2024.
On a website’s release, Rangnick was quoted saying, “I am excited to be joining Manchester United and focused on making this a successful season for the club. The squad is full of talent and has a great balance of youth and experience. All my efforts for the next six months will be on helping these players fulfil their potential, both individually and as a team.”
The 63-year-old has managerial experience with German teams such as Leipzig, Schalke, and Hoffenheim. Although he has not held a managerial position since his 2018-19 position with Leipzig, Manchester United’s football Director is all praise for the German and believes that Rangnick will bring some great experience to the club.
Manchester United is due to take on Arsenal on Thursday for a mid-week clash, and since the clearance for Rangnick won’t be possible in such a short time, it will be Michael Carrick’s job to see through yet another high-intensity game. So far, the former Manchester United player has had a great run with the team. He won the Champions League game against Villareal last week and held off the league leaders Chelsea in a draw played at Stamford Bridge.
