Rohit Sharma ruled out of 3-match Test series against South Africa

Indian cricket team has suffered a massive blow as their test vice-captain has been ruled out of the entire 3-match series against South Africa.

According to a report by PTI, Rohit’s old left hamstring injury is said to have resurfaced during India’s net sessions. Subsequently, it is also reported that he was struck in the hand during a throwdown session.

BCCI took it to their official handle on Twitter announced the injury. Their statement read, “Rohit Sharma sustained a left hamstring injury during his training session here in Mumbai yesterday. He has been ruled out of the upcoming 3-match Test series against South Africa.”

It was also confirmed that Rohit had suffered an injury to his hand during a throwdown session with Raghvendra. But that injury was not severe, as confirmed by a BCCI source in a conversation with PTI. The source said, “Yes, Rohit suffered an injury on his hand, but even after that, he had batted,” PTI reported. The Source also confirmed that Rohit would take four weeks to return to full fitness.

Rohit Sharma was recently appointed as the vice-captain of the Test Squad. With this injury, the vice-captain post is vacant, and KL Rahul, alongside Rishabh Pant, and Ravichandran Ashwin, are being speculated to be named for the post.

Also, the 34-year-old opener will be replaced by Priyank Panchal for the test series.
