After a health scare and month-long speculation, Sergio Aguero has decided to hang up his boots. In a press conference, the Argentine striker brought his 18-year-long illustrious career to an emotional end.
The player had injuries issue from the very start of the season. After moving to Barcelona, he was suffering from a calf injury. This injury saw him sit out the best part of the start of the season.
However, his return to the field was also short-lived, as only after five appearances for his new club, the player was taken off the field abruptly during a La Liga match against Alaves.
He was admitted to the hospital since he was complaining of chest pain. It was later revealed that he had a heart condition and was advised by the doctors not to partake in any sport.
After this incident, several rumours were floating around that hinted at his early retirement. But Xavi Hernandez, after he was appointed the new boss of Barcelona, turned them down.
