Sporting Lisbon score late goals to sink Tottenham Hotspur
The first game of the second matchweek of UEFA Champions League was played between Tottenham Hotspur and Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese club (Sporting Lisbon) shocked the Antonio Conte’s men as Tottenham Hotspur got defeated by 2-0 in this game. Bad day at the office for Tottenham Hotspur as they conceded two late goals.
Sporting Lisbon were the better team since the start of the game and thus were the deserved winners in the end. Tottenham did have some chances in the game to score but couldn’t do it. There lack of awareness in the defence cost them two goals in the end. It was 0-0 in the first 45 minutes but Tottenham academy graduate Marcus Edwards who plays for Sporting now had a great chance to make it 1-0 to the home side.
Sporting were the dominating team in the second half as well and thus got the result. The first goal of the Sporting Lisbon came from the corner in the 90th minute. The second came 3 minutes later when Arthur took the ball from midfield and ran alone to make it 2-0 for the host. It was a brilliant goal to watch as this game came from a classic counter attack from Sporting Lisbon.
