Washington Sundar and Dinesh Karthik return to Tamil Nadu’s squad for Vijay Hazare trophy

The Tamil Nadu team has been provided an injury boost ahead of the Vijay Hazare trophy. Soon after winning a thrilling encounter against Karnataka to win their second consecutive Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Tamil Nadu will now be eyeing the Vijay Hazare trophy. And their problem with the collapsing middle order might be sorted with the inclusion of stay wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik and all-rounder Washington Sundar.

Dinesh Karthik was snubbed out of the squad for SMAT after suffering an injury post IPL. His absence was bitterly felt in the Tamil Nadu’s team, who almost lost the final due to a middle-order collapse. If it weren’t for a miracle inning by Shahrukh Khan, they would have lost the last. So, Karthik’s inclusion in the squad is a welcome sign for Tamil Nadu.

Similarly, Washington Sundar, too, has been out of action for a long time. He picked up an injury ahead of the series against England and was forced to retreat home. Following this, he missed the IPL, T20 World Cup, and the home series against New Zealand. Recently he was spotted in the net session of the Indian team ahead of the first test against New Zealand. Therefore, his presence will also boost the squad’s depth.

Tamil Nadu is placed in the Elite Group B and will play its preliminary matches in Thiruvananthapuram. They kick off their campaign against Mumbai on the 8th of December. Vijay Shankar will continue as the team’s captain, while Narayan Jagadeesan is named as his deputy for the tournament.
